Wood Hardness Chart

The hardness of wood is calculated by a test that measures the force needed to embed a .444-inch steel ball to half its diameter in wood. This is the industry standard for determining the ability of different species to tolerate denting and normal wear and tear. It's also a good tool for determining the effort needed to nail or cut different wood species.
